Episode 1: Planetary Exploration
Location: Thorynthar, Zyntheria Prime
The waves crashed on the glistening shore as the storm in the distance grew closer. Therenos, The Storm Bringer, was making his presence known to them. Blessing the Vryantha Ryn that he and several other men had partaken in. The retreat was as it had always been, freeing. His naked form stood on the cliff as he let the warm wind take him. He closed his eyes and felt the closeness to Therenos. The static in the air made his veins glow a faint blue, which was a sign of Therenos’s blessings.
From behind him, he heard someone approaching. Turning his head he saw another man, who was also nude, approaching the cliff. “Come to watch the storm too?” Tharynos asked the approaching man.
“Of course. It isn’t a Vryantha Ryn without one.” He stopped next to Thar and looked out at the passing story. Loryn Evrek stood and watched the thunder crash down into the sea. The two men had grown up together. When Thar left for Starfleet, Loryn was crushed, but he really didn’t have time to go to school to become a doctor.
“You are right. I was glad I was able to make it this year. I have missed these.” Thar wasn’t able to attend many Vryantha Ryns after leaving for Starfleet Academy, but he tried to take leave around this time.
The is a sacred and deeply revered ceremony held by the males of Zynthera Prime, devoted to the storm deity Therenos. It is a retreat of renewal, reflection, and unity, designed to awaken both the primal and spiritual strength of its participants. Held in secluded groves or beside roaring rivers and waterfalls, the ceremony unfolds beneath the open sky, where the wind, rain, and distant thunder amplify the raw power of the natural world and the presence of Therenos. Separated from the trappings of civilization, the men are fully immersed in the forces around them, confronting the elements as a means of preparing for life’s challenges and deepening their connection to the divine.
In keeping with the ceremony’s sacred purpose, the participants enter the Vyrantha Ryn in their natural state, embracing the principle of vyran—nudity that symbolizes freedom, vulnerability, and the shedding of all external barriers. Their bare, muscular forms stand as both a testament to physical endurance and a reflection of their devotion, a living embodiment of the transformative strength the retreat seeks to cultivate. Through this union of body, spirit, and nature, the men of Zynthera Prime honor Therenos and reaffirm their place within the powerful currents of the world around them.
The storm started to move closer to land off of the sea. Tharynos noted its distance and smiled. Another male approached, “Tharynos, Loryn. It is time.” The older man said as he turned and disappeared back into the woods. Thar and Loryn turned and followed him into the woods. About fifty men surrounded a roaring bonfire that reached halfway to the tallest tree. The men were seated around the fire chanting. The elder sat closest to the fire. Thar and Loryn took a spot near the middle of the ring of men and joined into the chant.
The rain started at a drizzle, The elders stood. The rest of the men stood. They started chanting louder as the storm grew stronger. Lightening cracked across the sky followed by thunder, as if a response to the chanting. The wind picked up, the flames of the fire were almost sideways. Another lightening streaked, the veins of the Theronar started to glow electric blue.
Thar chanted loudly as the rain and wind blew around him. The warm rain water dripped down his bare body. His eyes shut tight as he felt the presence of Therenos closing around him. The Theronar men started the dance of “Tharonos’s Steps”. At once, they also chanting this song,
“Tharenos sha, korin ti mythar,
Mara shaen, avirin sha.
Ryna sha, theranosar vyran thyros,
Varen sha, shora ti maran.”*
The storm grew stronger as the men danced around the flames. Thunder cracked, men sang, the fire was smoking. The rain was putting out the fire. The dance wouldn’t stop until the rain put out the fire.
Almost an hour later the fire was out, the elder called an end to the dance. The tired men moved from the clearing and towards the dwellings. Food was prepared by a few of the men and they all ate heartily of meat and roasted vegetables.

The Vryantha Ryn came to a close and the men started to gather their belongings from the storage area. Thar and Loryn reclothed themselves and started walking towards civilization. Within a few minutes, they were at the main lot where the hovercars were parked. They were taking off one by one. The two men climbed into one, and Loryn started it up and they started to fly towards their hometown.
