Biography/Application Standards

We on the USS Eventide pride ourselves in high quality applications and biographies. These are consistently being updated and made better as we ourselves grow better. To meet this quality, the Command Team has developed a list of standards that all new applicants should follow when writing their biographies.

General Rules:

• Every field is required to be filled out.

• Give us a good idea of who your character is. Use as much details as you can.

Ranks/Positions/Service Record: While your character is your creation, there are a few guidelines when it comes to create the history of your character. Please follow these guidelines:

• Department Heads are required to have at least 5 years in their respective department

• Officers can be either a fresh graduate or a seasoned officer.

• Specialists can either be officers or enlisted crew.

Minimum Ranks

• Department Heads: Lieutenant

• Officers: Ensign or Lieutenant JG

• Enlisted: Crewman-Petty Officer, First class

• Please do not assume your rank when making your application. If you must assume a rank, use these minimum ranks to guide your application.

Quality of Biography

Quality is important to the sim. When you have a good quality application you have a better chance to get approved without recommendations. Please follow these guidelines when we are looking for quality.

• Quality is evident when you use detailed words throughout the application.

• Each section is filled out with detailed information.

• History covers their entire life until the point of the sim. Includes dates, people, ships, and locations.

• Using writing physical description, people should be able to read it and know what the character looks like without needing a picture.

Sample Post:

• Minimum 500 words

• Use more narration than speaking in the post.

• Describe what is happening around your character while you are writing the post. Show us what you can do!

While these standards and guidelines are what we base our recommendations on when we look at them, please have a discussion with us if your character does not fit these standards. We are open to conversation, but please note, this does not guarantee that we will bend the rules for you.

If the command team comes to you with recommendations, this is not to deter you from joining, it is simply to help and guide you to write your character to the standard of the sim. It does not mean that we will deny your character, but we will help you as much as we can.
